Debates are a role-playing game, imitating an argument on a political, economic or social policy in a national parliament. Since the early 19th when it was invented in Oxford, the game has became one of the most important kind of intellectual extra-curriculum activities among student in Europe and the USA. Barack Obama, Winston Churchill, Benazir Bhutto, Samuel Huntington, Oleg Zamulin and many other prominent people were ardent debaters during their student years.
Debates are popular among students for plenty of reasons, e.g.:
· Debates develop persuasiveness and ability to convince people, move your ideas forward;
· Debates teach to think faster and use structured approach, which helps debaters to solve any problems in work & life;
· Participation in debates is a great training of spoken English skills!
